The place
Stoker's mountain school over Lake Hermanstadt became an island only when the old world fell away beneath it. Arrival is a low southern beach and one readable road: Hermanstadt Causeway climbs past the Circle of Ten, skirts the black lake, and frames the school above it. The west fork crosses Split Fang into Forsaken Anchorage, where Dracula carved his discarded school name into a pirate mast. The school is the landmark; the lake is the impossible calm; the hidden cove is the dangerous opportunity. The Devil remains as sole teacher in a human guise with horns, while Dracula returns as the student forsaken for choosing pirate command over obedience.
